Holiday Reading Guide | 2023

I have this idyllic image in my head of the perfect holiday evening: A flannel blanket. A crackling fire. A crisp cocktail sweating on the side table. (Atop a coaster obviously.) My Christmas tree aglow. And, of course, a book spread across my lap, one that I’ve been aching to read, one that passes the exact vibe check required to satisfy this festive fantasy. A proverbial star atop my tree, if you will. I live my life based on vibes, okay? And what I read is no exception, especially during the holidays. Do I want to pretend that I am a lady of nobility brushing my hair as I stare out the window of my Victorian estate, torn between two marriage proposals from handsome, wealthy suitors? Am I imagining myself in a silver sleigh pulled by white rabbits, racing through the forest at twilight, impervious to the cold, determined to complete the solstice ritual before the wards around my woodland cottage have fallen? Do I need to solve a murder between courses of an extravagant Christmas feast? Do I want to be bedded (and bedded well) by Jack Frost? Unapologetically, the answer is yes to all of those things.
